Urbanism · About

The urbanism philosophy.

Urbanism broadens the practice to the scale of the place. We work on masterplanning, community design and regeneration — shaping neighbourhoods, streets and shared spaces that support everyday life. International proposals are one part of this work, delivered in collaboration with qualified local professionals.

Thinking in plan

We design places the way we design buildings.

Every place begins as a drawing. We work in plan and section from the first sketch — testing block sizes, street widths, frontages and open space until the structure of a place makes sense. Drawing is how we think, and how we make options visible and comparable for the people who have to decide.

People first

Good places are not designed from the top down.

Our urbanism begins with how people live, move and gather, then works outward to the streets, spaces and infrastructure that hold a community together. We test carefully, design with restraint, and plan for the long term — places that improve quality of life at the scale of the neighbourhood, the town and the city.

Working internationally

Design leadership here, delivery expertise there.

On international projects, Amoo Architecture leads the concept and design while collaborating with appropriately qualified local professionals who deliver statutory approvals and construction under local regulations. This is how responsible international practice should work — design leadership from Amoo Architecture, local expertise on the ground.
